When I signed up for Uverse I was given a promotion and told to call back in 1 year to get another promotion. I was told by the rep on the phone (at the time I signed up) and the installation guy that Uverse ALWAYS has promotions and not to worry. When my 1 year was almost up I called to see what promotions were available. The rep told me that since I wasn't calling in the month that my promotion ended (1 month early) to call back the next month to see what was available. Again, the rep told me they ALWAYS have promotions. She said if I didn't call back in time my bill would increase. I asked her what if there are no promotions and she said not to worry because they will definitely have one and there is no way I'll pay that increased price. I called back a few days before my promotion ended. The rep checked on my account for a few minutes then came back and said a customer relations rep would have to take a look at my account to see what type of promotion I am eligible for. He said someone would email me then call me within 5-7 days. I asked him if I didn't get a promotion before my end date would I have to pay the increased amount and he said no because I pay for a month in advance so just make sure I have a promotion by the 1st of the next month. He said not to worry because they ALWAYS have promotions and if they couldn't find one for my package then sometimes they give the same promotion the customer already has. 7 days went by with no contact. I called back again and the rep said there are NO promotions during this month for my package (I have cable & internet, nothing complicated) and that I will have to pay the increased amount on my next bill, apparently I did not pay in advance. She said I have to call back next month to see if they have a promotion that month. I asked what if they don't have one and she said I would just have to pay my increased bill. I asked her about cancellation since I am no longer in a contract as the contract is always for 1 year (as told to me by one of the Uverse reps). She told me what I would have to do however I would still owe the increase bill amount because it is for the current month of service. I mentioned getting the same promotion I had (what the previous rep told me) and she laughed a little bit and said that never happens. I was told by 4 different Uverse reps that I shouldn't worry because they ALWAYS have promotions. Now that I am inquiring about a promotion there is none to be found! It seems that they offer great promotions to get you in the door then leave you screwed with your bill going up and down... or just up and up.
